Passenger flow via “Marine Façade” port (Saint-Petersburg) in 2019 season grew by 4% YoY to 647,640 people

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg “Marine Façade” completed the navigation season of 2019 on 21 October 2019 with the departure of the AIDA Cruises’ AIDAaura, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Vadim Kashirin, General Director of “Marine Façade”, as saying at the press conference dedicated to Navigation 2019 results.

During the navigation season of 2019, the port welcomed 265 cruise liners which delivered a total of 647,640 passenger to Saint-Petersburg. Compared to the results of 2018, passenger turnover grew by 4% with the number of calls having slightly decreased (5 calls less).

“The growth of passenger flow along with the reduction of calls reflects the global trend towards using larger ships, - said Vadim Kashirin. – The growth became possible due to improvement of Saint-Petersburg’s tourism image.”

The cruise season of 2019 began on April 28 with the call of MSC Poesia.

The plans of Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg “Marine Façade” for navigation season of 2020 include a slight increase of the tourist flow. According to Vadim Kashirin, it can reach 648,000 passengers with a 0.1-pct growth versus the results of 2019. In the navigation season of 2020 the port expects 258 ship calls.
