Over the three quarters of 2019, Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC (MRC) operating in the port of Ust-Luga allocated RUB 11.5 million for implementation of activities under its environment protection programme, 4 times as much as in the same period of the previous year.
Considerable growth of investments into environment protection should be attributed to completion of works on expansion the fleet of handling equipment with dust suppression units and modernization of the company’s ecological facilities.
In 2019, MRC purchased of a local sprinkling system to be installed above the multipurpose grabbing equipment. The company also conducted pre-project works on improvement of its wastewater treatment system.
All in all, the company’s allocations for renovation of equipment, maintenance and modernization of the terminal’s ecological facilities totaled RUB 9.7 million, five times as much as in the same period of 2018.
MRC expenses for environment monitoring performed by specialists of laboratories accredited by the state climbed by 14%, year-on-year, to RUB 920,000. The number of parameters for evaluation of air quality grew from 5 to 12. MRC increased the frequency of noise measurements from quarterly to monthly, both in daytime and in night hours.
The measurements conducted by the specialists confirm the efficiency of the company’s environment protection activities: MRC impact on the environment does not exceed the standards set forth by the legislation.
This year, MRC has also made allocations for transportation and disposal of industrial and consumer waste, development of environmental documentation and other ecological activities.
Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC is a cargo terminal in the port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region, specializing in unloading, storage and loading of general and bulk cargoes. The main cargo is export power coal. In 2018, MRC LLC handled 5.4 million tonnes of cargo.
