Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard launches dry cargo carrier Pola Anastasia of Project RSD59
On 12 December 2019, Nizhny Novgorod based Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched yet another dry cargo carrier of Project RSD59, Pola Anastasia, built for shipping company Pola Rise, says Marine Engineering Bureau, the ship designer.
Krasnoye Sormovo has already built twelve ships of Project RSD59 with eight more under construction and agreement signed for additional 20 vessels.
As it was reported earlier, Nevsky Shipyard has delivered two vessels in a series of five dry cargo vessels of Project RSD59 with one unit launched and two more under construction. Okskaya Shipyard has signed contracts for 15 more ships of Project RSD59. Thus, the number of ordered RSD59 ships is 60 (including 14 built ships, 26 under construction and 20 units in option).
The Pola Anastasia will soon leave for mooring and seas trials with the delivery to the customer expected by the beginning of the next navigation season.
The vessel is designed for transportation of general, containerized cargo, timber, grain, oversized cargo and dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 class in accordance with IC IMDG and Appendix B of the BC Code in the Caspian, Mediterranean, Black, Baltic, White and North Seas including sailings around Europe and in the Irish Sea during winter season.
The new series is a successor of RSD49 design which had three holds. RSD59 ships with extra full hull forms have a unique second hold, the largest among Volgo-Don Max ships.
The vessel’s class notation is КМ Ice2(hull; power) R2 АUT1-ICS BWM(T) CONT (deck, cargo holds Nos.1,2) DG (bulk, pack) of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping which meets all the requirements of international conventions in force at the time of the vessel's laying.
By displacement the vessels of RSD59 project are by far the largest of dry cargo vessels satisfying the dimensions of the Volga-Don shipping channel.
Deadweight in the sea with draft of 4.706 m – 8,144 t; Deadweight in river with draft of 3.60 m – 5,320 t.
The maximum length is 141.0 m, the overall width is 16.98 m, depth is 6.00 m.
The capacity of cargo holds is 11,400 cubic meters. The operating speed is 10.5 knots.
Endurance in sea - 20 days.
Crew - 11, berths - 14. There is a sanitary cabin and a pilot cabin.
Expected service life of the hull - 24 years.
Pola Makaria, lead ship of RSD59 series is on the list of Significant Ships of 2018 by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).
