Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) has further expanded its fleet with the addition of a new Aframax-type tanker, according to the company's release.
This acquisition aligns with the "Shipping Development Strategy for 2022-2030" approved by ASCO's Supervisory Board.
The newly acquired tanker, previously operated by Capital Maritime and Trading Corp., boasts a deadweight of 115,500 tons and is equipped with advanced safety features and meets international environmental standards. It has been chartered to Brazil's national oil company, Petrobras, for a three-year period.
Since 2023, ASCO has commissioned seven large-capacity vessels, including five Aframax tankers and two Handysize dry cargo ships. This acquisition was financed through a combination of company profits, local market bonds, and loans from local banks.
The tanker has already successfully completed its maiden voyage, delivering cargo from Brazil to Singapore and Malaysia.
