Container turnover of the Baltic ports to reach 16 million TEU within 10 years

Container turnover of the ports of the Baltic Sea will reach 16 million TEU within 10 years, RZD-Partner reports with reference to the forecast of shipping and port operator Containerships Oy. As of today, such volume of containerized cargo is handled in the ports of Hamburg and Rotterdam together. About 30-40% of the above volume will fall on the ports of St. Petersburg. The forecast is based on economic model developed by the company. The model considers such factors as profit if Russian economy from oil sales as well as the 2% growth of economy in Finland, Baltic states and Poland, and 6% growth of sales turnover.
