Cargo turnover of Nakhodka port up 1.6% in Jan.-Sep. y-o-y

Cargo turnover of Nakhodka port grew in January-September 2006 by 1.6% against year-on-year result to 6 096.6 thou tons, Eastern Branch of Rosmorport FSUE reported to PortNews IAA. Through the reported period the port handled 4 605.4 thou tons of general cargo (+11.3% against year-on-year result). Container turnover amounted to 192.5 thou tons (+87.8%), transshipment of metal amounted to 4 243.9 thou tons (+10.8%), transshipment of metal scrap fell by 26.4% to 25.4 thou tons, timber - 1 420.7 thou tons (+4.8%) including round timber of 1 175.0 thou tons (+5.9%), saw-timber – 245.7 thou tons (-0.4%). The port handled 70.5 thou tons of bulk cargo that has decreased by a factor of 7.2 against year-on-year result. Transshipment of coal and coke decreased by a factor of 23.1 amounting to 9.2 thou tons. Transshipment of ore amounted to 61.3 thou tons (decreased by a factor of 4.8 against year-on-year result).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port is navigableall-the-year-around. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
