The cargo turnover of the port of Nahodka reduced by 3.9% to 2.1 million tons
The cargo turnover of the port of Nahodka reduced by 3.9% to 2196.8 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2006 in comparison with the similar period of the last year. PortNews IAA was reported on it the Eastern branch of Rosmorport FSUE. The port processed 1639.2 thousand tons of general cargoes for the accounting period (+5.1% in comparison with the similar period of the last year). Including container turnover, which made 50.2 thousand tons (+64%), transhipment of metals made 1544.7 thousand tons (+4.2%), of scrap metal – 6.2 thousand tons (-19.4%). 494.9 thousand tons of timber cargoes were shipped in the port (-4.7%). Including the transhipment of a round timber, which made 411.1 thousand tons (-4.5%), saw-timbers – 83.8 thousand tons (-5.6%). 62.7 thousand tons of bulk cargoes were processed (-69.9%). Including the transhipment of coal and coke, which made 1.4 thousand tons, that almost 149 times less than figures for the first quarter of the last year. Transhipment of ores made 61.3 thousand tons. In January-March, 2005 transhipment of ores was not carried out.
The port of Nahodka is located in the Northern part of the Nahodka bay on the both coasts. The port runs all-the-year-round navigation, it is connected with the rail system of Russia and Western Europe by the Transsiberian highway.
