The cargo turnover of the Eastern port (Vostochnyj) reduced by 7% to 4.5 million tons in the first quarter of 2006
The cargo turnover of the Eastern port (Vostochnyj) reduced by 7.2% to 4468.5 thousand tons in the first quarter 2006 in comparison with the similar period of the last year. PortNews IAA was reported on it in the Eastern branch of Rosmorport FSUE. The port processed 674.1 thousand tons of general cargoes for the accounting period (-17.9% in comparison with the first quarter of 2005). Including the container turnover made 585.7 thousand tons (-13.4%), transhipment of scrap metal made 10.8% thousand tons (-62%), of machines and the equipment – 0.1 thousand tons (-66.6%). 85.0 thousand tons of timber cargoes was shipped in the port (-5.5%), 3709.4 thousand tons of bulk cargoes (-4.9%). Including the transhipment of coal and coke made 3408.5 thousand tons (-0.4%), ores – 30.1% thousand tons, that almost 7 times less than figures for the first quarter of 2005. Transhipment of potassium salts made 270.8 thousand tons (+1.9%).

The general length of a berthing line makes about 4 kilometers. Berths are the part of terminals on transhipment of coal, containers, fertilizers, methanol, timber, bulk and general cargoes.
