Ports of Ukraine handled 446.7 thou TEU in 8M06

According to information provided by the State Department of Ukrainian Sea and River Transport, growth rates of container turnover grew through 8 months of 206 by +29.5% against year-on-year result amounting to 446.705 thou TEU, RZhD-Partner reports. Thus, container turnover increase exceeded the level of +101.7 thou TEU. In 2005 the growth was +117 thou TEU (+41%). Import and export shares are almost equal in container turnover (about 0.22 million TEU each). Transit share is still not very high - 1.1% of total cargo turnover of Ukrainian ports (4.984 thou TEU handled over the reported period).
