Aker to form new ship-owner, Aker DOF Supply, with offshore services firm DOF
Aker ASA said its financial investments division, Aker Capital, has agreed to form a new Norwegian ship-owner in partnership with offshore services firm, DOF ASA.
The new firm, which will be known as Aker DOF Supply, will be 50 pct owned by each of the companies, and will operate a series of six anchor-handling vessels that are being built at Aker Yards' shipyard in Vietnam.
These vessels, now costing a combined 1.8 bln nkr compared to the previously announced 1.5 bln, will be marketed to customers throughout Asia, Aker said.
Aker said the new company will be established with 60 mln nkr in equity, and that no decision has yet been made on whether to bring in additional outside investors.
