Russia to join international Grains Trade Convention
Russia will join the 1995 Grains Trade Convention, Interfax reports. The government press service announced on Monday that Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a corresponding resolution on June 28. The Foreign Ministry is bound to notify the Secretary General of the United Nations, which is the depositary of the convention about Russia's accession.
The convention brings together major grain exporting and importing countries. Its purpose is to promote international cooperation in all spheres of grain trade, especially in food grain trade. Russia is one of the top ten grain exporters worldwide.
