Three US shipyards to build 4 new ferries
Governor Gregoire has accepted the proposal from three Puget Sound shipyards to work together building four Washington ferries.
Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle will be the prime contractor with help from J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding in Tacoma and Nichols Brothers Boat Builders on Whidbey Island. The state has approved spending $348 million for the 144-car ferries.
