Throughput of Latvian ports up 4.6% in H1 07, y-o-y

According to Communications Ministry of Latvia, throughput of Latvian ports totaled 31.38 million tonnes in January-June 2007 (+4.6%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. Transshipment of loose cargo amounted to 13.197 million tonnes (+0.3%), including 7.049 million tonnes of coal (-12%), 2.817 of dry chemicals (+34.3%). Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 13.035 million tonnes (+8.3%), including 10.644 million tonnes of oil products (-1.8%) and 1.308 million tonnes of oil (2.3-fold growth). Transshipment of general cargo totaled 5.149 million tonnes (+6.7%), including 2.391 million tonnes of timber (+2.4%), 1.1 million tonnes of roll on/roll off cargo and 1.038 million tonnes of containerized cargo (+16.9%).

Throughput of the port of Ventspills grew by 10.4% - to 16.092 million tonnes, that of Riga – decreased by 16.8% to 12.594 million tonnes, Liepaja – fell by 2.5% to 2.018 million tonnes. In 2006, throughput of Latvia’s 10 ports decreased by 0.9% - to 59.497 million tonnes.
