Throughput of the port of St. Petersburg up 14% in H1 07, y-o-y
In January-June 2007, throughput of the port of St. Petersburg grew by 14%, year-on-year, to 28.325.5 million tonnes, St. Petersburg Seaport Administration reports. In the reported period, turnover of dry bulk cargo surged 57% to 4.510.8 million tonnes including 2.877.4 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+36%, year-on-year), 1.244.3 million tonnes of coal and coke (3-fold increase), 383.3 thou tonnes of ore (+18%), 5.8 thou tonnes of other dry bulk cargo (-82%). Transshipment of general cargo climbed 3% to 7.608.2 million tonnes including 2.345.6 million tonnes of ferrous metal (-4%), 732.0 thou tonnes of non-ferrous metal (-7%), 1.324.2 million tonnes of metal scrap (-9%), 227.7 thou tonnes of packaged cargo (+16%), 1.973.5 million tonnes of refrigerated cargo (+11%) and 1.005.4 million tonnes of other general cargo (+35%). The port’s container turnover grew by 18% to 6.287.4 million tonnes (822,270 teus, or +28%). Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 9%. Transshipment of oil products totaled 6.283.2 million tonnes (+9%), food-stuffs – 1.6 thou tonnes (-95%), chemical cargo – 2.6 thou tonnes (transshipment of chemical was not carried out in H1 2006). Throughput of timber cargo fell by 10% to 1.313.9 million tonnes, loose dry cargo (grain) – grew by 46% to 294.8 thou tonnes.In the reported period the port accepted 6091 vessels and dispatched 6011 vessels (total: 12,102 vessels).
