Samudra Indonesia to build Rp375 billion container terminal
Publicly listed PT Samudera Indonesia will build a container terminal worth Rp375 billion at Samarinda port, East Kalimantan, PT Samudera Indonesias Corporate Secretary Diana P Iskandar said here on Tuesday.
The terminal will be operated by PT Samudera Indonesia itself and for this purpose it has established cooperation with state-owned port operator Pelindo IV and the regional government of East Kalimantan. "The cooperation agreement was signed last weekend," Diana P iskandar said.
In order to operate the container terminal, the company set up a subsidiary, named PT Pelabuhan Samudera Palaran (PSP), which is a joint venture between PT Samudera Indonesia and PT Pelindo II.
PSP will later receive its rights and obligations on development of the container terminal facilities from PT Samudera Indonesia. "Construction of the terminal is expected to be completed in two years time," she said.
