The water level in the Penzhina River near the Kamenskoye settlement in the Koryak area in the north of Kamchatka has drastically dropped, Itar-Tass reports. In this connection the shipping companies and administrations of municipalities of the region have been warned about possible emergency situations, the Far Eastern regional centre of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass on Monday.
According to the emergencies ministry, in the period from July 29 to 30 the water level in the river dropped to the mark 250 centimetres, which is dangerous for navigation. Further water decline is expected in the next five-seven days at a pace of five-seven centimetres a day.
