Expansion of the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan) to double the port's capacity
The plan for expansion of the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan) to be developed by consulting company Scott Wilson, IA Khabar reports according to RZD-Partner. The project implementation is to double the port’s capacity. It is planned to build four oil berths and three dry cargo berths. Besides, the port will be able to accept new type of cargo – containerized cargo. The feasibility study is financed by European Union. Total budget of the project is to make EUR 1.5 million. Sea port of Aktau is a significant transport hub between Europe and Asia. The port’s facilities are capable of handling up to 12 million tonnes of oil and up to 1.5 million tonnes of cargo transported to Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine. The port’s throughput is growing day by day.
