Hurricane Humberto shuts refineries

The third hurricane of the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season, Humberto, has stormed through the Texas-Louisiana border, shutting down at least three refineries.
The storm came onshore early yesterday local time with 137 kilometres per hour (km/h) winds in southeastern Texas.
Sea ports in the affected regions have already been warned to cease operations when in the path of the storm.
Waterways into the Beaumont-Port Arthur and Lake Charles port areas remained closed to ship traffic yesterday morning local time.
Ship pilots have shut down traffic on the Sabine-Neches Waterway serving Beaumont and Port Arthur and on the Calcasieu Ship Channel serving Lake Charles.
Total Petrochemicals USA, Valero Energy Corporation and Motiva Enterprises LLC. refineries in Port Arthur have been shut down by power outages caused by the storm.
Total Petrochemicals USA's refinery in Port Arthur produces 232,000 barrels per day (bpd).
It is unclear when any of the refineries will resume operations, although some reports expect Total Petrochemicals USA facilities to come back on stream later today.
