MSC and TN to invest $153 million for the Le Havre expansion project

In an effort to meet rising throughput from the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), container Port 2000 at the French port of Le Havre will undergo an expansion drive.
MSC and French port handling services provider Terminaux de Normandie (TN) will invest more than $153.7 million for the expansion project, reports said.
Their joint venture company TNMSC has signed an agreement with the port authority for three of the new berths that will come on-stream in 2011.
Most of the investment funds will go towards purchasing equipment for the new facilities. MSC's throughput at Le Havre has risen to a current 800,000 TEUs from 100,000 TEUs in 2000.
