Throughput of Klaipeda seaport (Lithuania) up 15.7% in Jan-Nov 07, y-o-y

In January-November 2007, seaport of Klaipeda (Lithuania) increased transshipment of cargo by 15.7%, year-on-year, to 24.86 million tonnes, the port informs according to Gudok.Ru referring to Interfax. In the 11-month period of 2007, the port exceeded the result of the previous year by 1.3 million tonnes.

According to the port’s marketing department, the growth was driven by the increase in transshipment of agricultural goods (+58.8%), timber – (+49.7%), containers – (+46.3%), loose fertilizers – (+37.3%).

Transshipment of oil products via the port of Klaipeda by АО Klaipedos nafta and Kroviniu terminalas amounted to 6.55 million tonnes (+3.7%). Transshipment of oil via oil terminal Butinge totaled 4.07 million tonnes (-24.5%). In the reported period passenger throughput of the port amounted to 271,100 people (+19.8%, year-on-year).
