APL launches a new feeder North Baltic Express service

Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines' container shipping arm APL has launched a new feeder service linking Tallinn and St Petersburg with North Europe, Asia and the Americas via APL-operated services. The new service – the North Baltic Express (NBX) – is operated by two vessels, on a 14-day rotation, calling on a weekly basis at Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Tallinn and St Petersburg.
“The strengthening of APL’s service network in the Baltic region is very much in line with our stated goal of continued expansion in Eastern Europe and Russia,” said David Appleton, APL’s President Europe. “We have established a significant presence in the region in recent years and are committed to improving our service to customers there still further in the future,” he forecast.
APL claims: “The NBX service offers a unique connection from the congestion-free port of Zeebrugge to Petrolesport in St Petersburg. The NBX service offers dedicated Asia-Europe connections from the SCX service via Zeebrugge as well as from the AEX and JEX services via Rotterdam. Outbound connections to the Far East will provide fast transit times via Rotterdam on the same services. The Americas will be served via Rotterdam on APL’s APX, ATS, ATN and EMX services.”
