Ningbo port saw its container throughput surpass five million TEU in the first half of this year, keeping as the fourth largest container port in mainland China, Xinhua reported.
Ningbo port has been attaching great importance in container business development since the beginning of this year and as a result, the port's container volume increased 17 per cent year on year to a record high of 5.18 million TEU in the first half, the report said.
In June alone, Ningbo port handled 940,000 TEU, which was a new monthly record for it, the report said.
Ningbo port altogether handled 176.48 million tons of cargo in the first six months, an increase of 5.6 per cent year on year.
