Los Angeles container traffic dropped 11.7 percent while the adjoining Port of Long Beach saw a 12.5 percent in June compared to the same year-ago period.
During the first six months of 2008, Los Angeles port officials reported a 6.76 percent drop in cargo containers while Long Beach had a 6.6 percent decline.
Port of Long Beach spokesman Art Wong says shipments had been expected to improve during the second half of the year but added "there's no sign of relief right now."
