According to the plan, the port's container volume will reach 250,000 TEU by 2010, with 10 million tonnes of cargo crossing its docks over all in the same period.
During the coming seven to eight years, Wuzhou city will expand its port infrastructure by launching several projects including the building of five 2,000-tonne berths with a 1.98 million tonnes capacity, a phase 3 of the Lijiazhuang Container Terminal which will raise the terminal's capacity by 300,000 tonnes and a terminal for dangerous goods with a capacity of 500,000 tonnes.
At the same time, the port will support the development of the local shipping companies, aiming to raise the city's shipping capacity to 400,000 tonnes by 2010 and 600,000 tonnes by 2015.
