Bremen and Bremerhaven ports posted a 15 per cent to 2.7 million TEU increase in the first half of 2008 compared to the same period of 2007.
The ports also handled 1.09 million cars, 9.1 per cent more than in the first half of 2007.
"The boom in container logistics played a central role in that trend with an increase of almost 20 per cent last year, the twin ports defended their position amongst the world's fastest-growing locations," said Bremenports GmbH & Co managing director Jurgen Holtermann on the bremerport website.
