National Iranian Tanker Company to become world’s third largest supertanker operator

The National Iranian Tanker Company plans to boost its fleet capacity to 14.111 million tons by 2011, NITC Managing Director Mohammad Souri said here on Wednesday.
“In five years, the NITC will become the world’s third largest supertanker operator,” Souri stated.
“Currently, Norway’s Front Line, with 80 supertankers and a total capacity of 18 million tons, stands in first place and Japan’s Mitsui, with a total capacity of 15 million tons, is the world’s second largest supertanker operator,” he explained and noted that the NITC now stands in 5th place.
“Up to now, 10 out of the 17 ordered supertankers have been delivered to us, and by the end of the current year, four more supertankers will be delivered,” Souri added
