Santos Brasil buys General Cargo Terminal in Imbituba Port

Santos Brasil has acquired 100% of the General Cargo Terminal in Imbituba Port in a deal valued at R$25 million.
Santos Brasil's wholly owned subsidiary, Tremarctos Participações, entered into the share purchase agreement with Union Armazenagem e Operações Portuárias, the lessee of the terminal and a member of the Libra Terminais group.
The concession contract, which began in 2006, is for a period of 25 years, and is renewable for a further 25 years.
The terminal's infrastructure includes a preferential berthing quay, contiguous to the Tecon Imbituba berthing quay; almost 54,000 m2 of bonded area within the organised port; and a 3,000 m2 bonded warehouse.
Santos Brasil plans to increase the port complex's capacity, generating synergies between Tecon Imbituba's operations, general cargo operations and the consolidation and deconsolidation of containerised cargo.
The transaction price is subject to certain contractual adjustments.
The transaction itself is subject to approval by the Imbituba Port Authority, the Brazilian anti-trust authority, and ANTAQ - a national agency for monitoring and regulating transport issues.
