In January-July 2008, Nakhodka port handled 9.877.6 million tonnes of cargo (+30.3%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of RosMorPort FSUE. In the reported period, the port handled 5.983.9 mln tonnes of dry cargo (+30.4%, y-o-y) including 1.333.7 mln tonnes dry bulk and loose cargo (up 25.4 times year-on-year). Transshipment of ore grew 5.2 times to 242,600 tonnes , coal – 168.7 times to 944,900 tonnes. In the 7-month period, the port handled 607,500 tonnes of timber (down 3.0 times, y-o-y) including 441,600 tonnes of round timber (down 3.5 times), 165,900 tonnes of sawn timber (down 1.8 times). In January-July the port handled 3.896.4 mln tonnes of general cargo (+50.9%) including 3.098.7 mln tonnes of ferrous metal (+38.0%), 149,000 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+65.0%), 110,000 tonnes of scrap metal (+25.0%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 20,400 tonnes (+20.6%), packaged cargo – up 2.7 times to 318,500 tonnes. In the reported period container throughput grew by 18.8% to 31.686 TEU. Transshipment of oil products made 3.893.7 mln tonnes (+30.2%).
Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
