Klaipeda port remains leader in Baltic States

According to the statistical data of the loaded cargo over January-July 2008, Klaipeda sea port remains the leader among the Baltic States.
Over the first seven months of 2008, 18.24 million tones of cargo were loaded in Klaipeda sea port, an increase of 16.2% year-on-year.
The daily Vakaru Ekspresas reports that the growth is observable at the load of all types of cargo – liquid, dry, bulk and general cargo.
The growth of loaded liquid products was determined by the increasing turnover of oil products at the port. Over the seven months of 2008, the load of oil products went up 25.7% compared to the same period of 2007 and amounted to 5.82 million tones.
In July 2008, 2.35 million tones were loaded in the sea port, a decrease of 8.7% year-on-year.
