Kronstadt Cathedral, a major marine temple of Russia, is being restored in Kronstadt, PortNews IAA reports citing the International Charitable Foundation "Kronstadt Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas". In the past year over there have been a significant amount of job made to renovate the building turned during Soviet era into a movie theater.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill has blessed the restoration of the cathedral, while visiting in early March 2010. He also donated to the revival of the temple.
According to the Patriarch, the Kronstadt Naval Cathedral is to become the main cathedral of the Navy of Russia, of the memorial and glory.
"This is indeed a masterpiece of Russian architecture, which was by an evil will desecrated and downgraded to such a state, which we now all can see," Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church was quoted as saying.
