Commercial shipping line between Brazilian port of Paranagua and Angola to start operating with three ships

Italian shipping company Grimaldi has added another ship to its route between the state of Paraná in southern Brazil, and Angola, in order to meet demand for shipping, Brazil's state news agency reported Tuesday.
A year after the line was opened (July 2007), at the time with just one ship and from now on operated using three ships, a total of 1,371 rolling cargo units have been transported from the port of Paranágua to Angola, the agency said.
“This growth has been continuous. Vehicles and containers are exported, on average 2,000 tonnes of cargo on each ship,” manager of sea shipping operator Oceanus, Wellington Borba dos Santos told the agency.
Amongst the companies that have made most use of the Paranágua-Angola line are car and machinery manufacturers such as Volvo and Randon.
Figures from Brazil’s Foreign Trade Ministry also showed strong growth in exports to Angola: 66.9 percent in the first five months of the year, to US$606 million.
