OOCL rises rates from Northeast Asia to Australia

OOCL plans to increase freight rates for traffic from Northeast Asia (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea) to Australia on Oct. 15.

The Hong Kong-based carrier said the increases are “the next phase of our recovery program” and are necessary to ensure enough capacity for its customers’ needs.

The targeted rate increase is $250 per 20-foot equivalent container unit.

OOCL’s latest increase follows its Oct. 1 increase of $300 per TEU in rates for containers shipped from Southeast Asia ( Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indian subcontinent and Middle East) to Australia.
