Cargo turnover at RZD is up 9.6% in Jan-Sept, to 895.1m tons

In January-September the volume of freight loaded on the Russian Railways (RZD OJSC) rose 9.6% from the same period last year and amounted to 895.1 million tons, the Russian Railways press service reports.
 
According to operational information in nine recent months of the year the state-owned company demonstrated strong results in all categories of cargo. Russian Railways loaded 211.9 million tons of coal (+6.4%), - more than 9.4 million tons of coke (+26 %), over 187.5 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products (+10.6%), 75.6 million tons of iron and manganese ores (+7.6%), 53.7 million tons of ferrous metals (+14 2%), over 15 million tons of ferrous metals scrap (+31.9%), about 33.8 million tons of chemicals and fertilizer (+18.1%), more than 25.5 million tons of cement (+ 12,9%), nearly 40 million tons of timber (+4.1%), construction materials - 106.7 million tons (+9%), non-ferrous ores and sulfur raw materials - more than 19 million tons (+10.3%), chemicals and soda - 21.6 million tons (+20%), industrial raw materials and molding materials - 26.6 million tons (+17.7%) and 13.2 million tons (+18, 6) of containerized cargo.

In September 2010, the company shipped 102.1 million tons of freight (up 3.2% versus September 2009). The monthly volume of loaded coke rose by 2.1%, crude oil and petroleum products -  14.2%, ferrous metals - 2.9%, ferrous metals - 12,1% , chemical and mineral fertilizers - 8.8%, cement - 10.2%, timber cargo - 0.3%, building materials - up to 15% chemicals and soda - at 7%.

Cargo turnover in September this year amounted to 168.3 billion of tariff t/km (+2.3%), throughput in January-September 2010 exceeded 1.49 trillion t t/km, up 9% over the same period of 2009.
