In September this year the volume of handled cargo amounted to 1,060,100 tons, or 30% down from the same period a year earlier.
In nine recent months Specialized Coal Handling Terminal (PPK-3) handled 8,929,200 tons of coal (-7% vs last year’s figure). In September, the complex transshipped 788,100 tons of coal cargo, a 38-percent slump compared with the same period last year.
Nine-month volume of various cargoes transshipped at Universal Handling Terminal (PPK-1) rose 19% to 2,095,600 tons. In September, the PPK-1 handled 271,900 tons of cargo, or up 11% from Sept., 2009.
"The reduction in cargo turnover was due to a decrease in the number of rail cars from the previously agreed plan with the Railroad,” says Managing Director of Vostochny Port Sergei Kushnaryov. “In part, the cars backlog was caused by ongoing repair works on the railroad, as well as a shortfall in coal shipments.
Vostochny Port Joint Stock Company is the largest stevedore operating in the Russian Far East focused on coal transshipment, applying conveyor equipment.
