Hutchison Ports to deepen terminal in Poland

Hutchison Port Holdings will develop a deepwater berth at its terminal in the Port of Gdynia in Poland under an agreement with the Port of Gdynia Authority.

HPH’s Gdynia Container Terminal and the Gdynia Port Authority will jointly develop the deepwater berth at the Bulgarskie Wharf.

The new berth will have a quay length of 1,171 feet with a maximum depth-alongside of 49 feet, making it possible for GCT to accommodate vessels with capacities larger than 8,000 20-foot equivalent container units.

GCT will continue to expand its container yard and invest in more equipment in line with operational requirements. The deepwater berth is expected to be operational in mid-2012.
