Freight flows via Aktau port down 7.6% in Jan-Sept. , to about 9.5m tons

Throughput of RSE Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (the port of Aktau, Kazakhstan) for 9 months of 2010 dropped by 7.6% from the same period of 2009, to 9,479,000 tons of dry cargo and oil products, the Port Authority statistics said. Overall, the volume of transit crude oil and petroleum products  amounted to 7,042.33 tons.

Total nine-month volume dry cargo made up 2,437.07 tons, including metal volume - 1,456.69 tons and 199.45 tons of other goods. Transshipment of grain cargo amounted to 347.52 tons, volume of ferry traffic was 433.41 tons. In Jan-Sept, there were 1,528 ship calls at the port.

In September the state-owned company handled 909.47 thousand tons of dry cargo and oil.

Port of Aktau is located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea and is the only seaport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Port is a gate for international trade flows passing via its terminals, a broad range of dry cargoes, crude oil and petroleum products. In 2009 the Aktau Port’s throughput rose by 26.7%, to 13,951,000 tons.
