On October 14 the MSC, Mediterranean Shipping Company, launches a new weekly service to Södertälje, Sweden. The route is Bremerhaven–Södertälje–Norrköping–Bremerhaven. Four shipping companies now provide weekly calls at Södertälje. The Port of Södertälje now aims at increasing container volumes.
– We want to increase the container volumes by 20 per cent in 2010 and 2011. This year’s target is 71,000 TEU and next year we’ll handle 85,000 TEU, says CEO Erik Froste.
The Port of Södertälje handled 50,445 TEU, up twelve per cent, the first nine months of 2010.
