The facility for 450 trucks will be built on a 9.7 hectares site by the Tallinn-Narva highway, together with service buildings, lighting, queue system.
According to the Sillamäe port, the parking lot will be used in the future for customs checkups. This requires an interstate agreement, LETA reports.
The construction contract is a sequel to the grant agreement of the European Commission and economy and communications ministry allocating 1.15 million euros for the parking facility and the deadline of completion was set at January 31, 2012.
The facility will help avoid traffic jams and improve conditions for truck drivers at the border with Russia.
