Ukraine’s Transport Ministry presents a $290m Ilyichevsk container terminal project in Brussels

The Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communications participating in the Investment Forum of member countries of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor (TRACESA) in Brussels (Belgium) has presented a container terminal project worth $290 at the port of Ilyichevsk, the press service of the Ministry said.
The terminal will reportedly be built on piers 23-24. The facility throughput capacity will be 800,000 TEUs annually. The project terms will allow the investor-operator to start operating the terminal in 2015.

Besides, the Ministry officials offered the projects of dredging the harborage of Yuzhny port and its approach channel. To fund the project the country’s Ministry plans to get a $10m loan. The dredging starts in 2014. Upon the project completion Yuzhny port will be able to accommodate large-capacity bulk carriers.

Previously, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank and International Finance Corp. had announced of their plans to allow loans for investors who would be willing to participate in the projects developed by the Transport Ministry.
