Somali pirates brought to German court

German prosecutors have brought ten suspected pirates to court, the Somali citizens are charged with attacking maritime traffic and kidnapping, the news agency AFP reports. Earlier this year the group of ten men, including one teenager, boarded and hijacked the German owned container carrier Taipan. However, a rescue team from the Dutch navy freed the vessel and captured the pirates on April 5. The suspected pirates were extradited from the Netherlands to Germany in June.
The 925 TEU Taipan is owned by the Komrowski controlled Taipan and operated by Chinese Evergreen Marine Corp. Taipan was built in 2007 at Naval Gijón, Spain.
