Freight flows through the port of Helsinki (Finland) in January-September totaled 8,129,000 tons, or a 10-percent drop from the last year’s digits, the Port Authority statistics said.
In the reporting period exports volume passing via the port rose by 16% - to 3 million 585 thousand tons, imports - by 15%, to 3 million 743 thousand tons. Helsinki port’s container trade gained 14% to 303,000 TEUs, transshipment of of Ro-Ro cargoes increased by 13% to 360,000 units.
This September the port’s throughput totaled 1 million 28 thousand tons, container traffic amounted to 32,750 TEUs, loaded-offloaded Ro-Ro cargoes reached 44,520 units.
Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland. Last year’s freight volume of the port shrank by 21% year-over-year, to 8.6 million tons.
