Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it will raise its freight rates on shipments from ports on the U.S. Gulf, East Coast and South Atlantic to the East Coast of South America as of Oct. 25.
It said it was implementing the general rate increases because of what it called “current and projected markets conditions.” Prices have been flat or declining, in recent weeks.
The increases, which apply to shipments to Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, are $300 per 20-foot dry containers and $500 per 40-foot dry and high cube containers.
