NCC’s Shushary Terminal dispatches first container train

The first 56 empty containers of Singapore’s OOCL shipping line were loaded at the Logistics Terminal’s railyard (part of National Container Company, St. Petersburg, the rail station of Shushary) and dispatched it to the receiving station of Nigozero (Kondopoga, Republic of Karelia) on Friday, Oct. 15, PortNews reported citing the NCC’s press service. The Company said that "container trains will give Logistic Terminal additional loads and will provide for the client an opportunity to accumulate empty containers as well for further dispatch to the Russian manufacturers, as for loading and shipment for export".

The first rail shipment of containers of Logistics Terminal was synergy of the terminal, First Container Terminal (part of NCC) and the forwarder (MLO company), the train operator Transcontainer and container line OOCL. The management of Logistics-Terminal expects that the formation of trains with empty containers will be one of the services that customers might order regularly. The second train is to follow on October 19.

Earlier, a Russian Railways’ wire gave the green light for Logistics Terminal’s operations from October 10th, feeding and dispatching rail cars to/from the station of Shushary.
Onshore Container Terminal in Shushary ("dry" port) of Logistics Terminal is a modern customs and logistics terminal, built in 2008.The Shushary terminal covers the total area of 92 hectares, the TSW’s area - 5300 sq.m., container yard capacity – 10,000 TEUs of loaded and 4,500 TEUs of empty containers. Annual capacity is 200,000 TEUs. The terminal is linked through a single technology, to First Container Terminal at the port of St. Petersburg. The Shushary facility is located 17 km from FCT, 161 km from the container terminal in Ust-Luga, and 620km from Moscow - 620 km.
