Novoship beefs up its fleet

The 156,000dwt suexmax tanker NS Bravo was added to the fleet of Novoship Company (part of Sovcomflot) on October 14, 2010, the Novoship’s press service reported.

The NS Bravo is the third of four tankers of suezmax class, ordered by Novoship, running its fleet upgrade program (2006-2010) at Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries.

The new tanker complies with all current international requirements for maritime safety and environmental protection. The Lloyd’s Register classification society has assigned the NS Bravo the highest class of environmental security - Environmental Protection. In addition, the vessel received Green Passport, a document certifying the environmental safety of the materials of which the tanker was made.

The B-series vessels are the largest tankers of the fleet of Novoship. Their basic parameters are as follows: length - 274.5 m, beam - 48 m, depth - 23.7 m, total depth - 17 m, max speed - 15 knots. Each tanker of the series is able to simultaneously carry 3 types of cargo.

The NS Bravo 23 crew members are Russia nationals. The tanker will set out for its maiden voyage under command Yuri Prikazchikov, experience master who had worked in the industry for 33 years, including 18 years for the Novorossiysk Shipping Company.

The NS Bravo tanker christening ceremony was held on Sept. 29, 2010 with participation of Novoship’s President Igor Tonkovidov.

The new series suezmax ships order is scheduled to be completed in December 2010. The project’s three ships have been already operating in the fleet of the company. The series first tanker NS Burgas was launched on Oct. 28, 2009. Novoship took delivery of the NS Bora on March 31, 2010.
Novorossiysk Shipping Company is the largest Russian shipping company, part of SovComFlot Group. Novoship operates its fleet of 56 modern vessels, of total 4.42m DWT, valued at $3,19 billion. The average age of the tanker fleet vessels is 6.3 years. Currently the Novoship’s portfolio of orders comprises of 5 vessels of total 480.000 DWT, to be delivered by the end of this year.

Novorossiysk Shipping Company, part of Sovcomflot Group is Russia's largest shipping company in the Black Sea. The average age of the Sovcomflot’s tanker fleet is 6,4 years, two times lower than the world’s average. The Group’s current shipbuilding program consists of 9 vessels with total deadweight of 700,000 tons.
