Nine-month net income of TransContainer soars eightfold, to 277.3m rubles.

Net income of JSC TransContainer (a Russian Railways’ subsidiary) to Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) for 9 months of 2010 increased by 8 times as much compared with the same period in 2009, to 277.3 million rubles. The company’s revenue in Jan-Sept. increased by 37.5% to 16,401,100,000 rubles. Gain from sales surged by 67.5% and amounted to 1,487,600,000 rubles.

In Jan-Sept, 2010 the volume of traffic on the fitting platforms by the company rose to 869,000 TEUs (+5%). The volume includes 522,000 TEUs of domestic trade and 347,000 TEUs in international traffic. The goods transported in the recent nine months by the company’s own containers increased by 18.1% year-over-year.

In the reporting period TransContainer’s terminals handled 1 million 166 thousand TEUs, or 8.6% up over the same period in 2009.

TransContainer, a subsidiary of state-owned Russian Railways (RZD’s stake in TransContainer is 84.9999%), specializes in intermodal container traffic, as well as providing integrated logistics services. The company operates about 25,500 platforms, which carried about 1.1 million TEUs in 2009, and in the first half of this year - 0.55 million TEUs.

In 2009, revenues of TransContainer totaled 16.4 billion rubles (approximately $537 million). As of Dec. 31, 2009 the company's assets amounted to 30.7 billion rubles. (about $1bn 16m).
