Russ. Govt. establishes Pevek Port’s boundaries

Russian Government in its Decree (18 October 2010 N1801-p), has established the boundaries of the seaport of Pevek (Chukotka Autonomous District). The corresponding document was signed by Vladimir Putin, the government press service said.

Seaport Pevek located in an area Chaun Bay of the East Siberian Sea (Russia’s Chukotka Autonomous District) and is one of the ports of the Northern Sea Route. The navigation period here lasts 120 days a year. Ice season lasts from November to June. There are no rail entrances to the port available. The airport Apapelgino is located 16 km from the port. There are 4 berth with length up to 186 meters, depths at berths is 8-10 meters. JSC Sea Commercial Port of Pevek is the stevedore providing loading and unloading operations at the port. The company owns and operates 20 gantry cranes, crawler cranes, haulers, about 30 trucks, tractors, bulldozers and special handling equipment. The outdoor warehouse facilities area is 147,000 sq m, indoor warehouse - 2,100 sq m.
