Russian Customs says e-customs system to be effective from Jan.1,2011

Federal Customs Service (FCS of Russia) is planning to introduce a 100-percent electronic submission of declaration of goods from January 1, 2011, As Nazip Galikeev, the chief of the North-West Customs Directorate (SZTU) told journalists, the customs authorities have been prepared for the move, and now it is up to participants of foreign economic activity (FEA).

Currently, software and hardware at 89 customs offices and departments of the North-West Customs have successfully been tested. Before the end of 2010 multilateral automobile checkpoints (MAAP) will also be prepared for integration into the network. The next step will be the wider application of the remote customs control of the goods. As of now, there are 7 customs posts that have already been applying the e-customs system.
