St. Petersburg port eliminates oil slicks, pollution source not found

Yesterday, Oct.25 there was oil slicks found at the port of St. Petersburg at the berths N 1, 2, 3 covering up to 100 meters of waters area, said the press service of the Ministry of Transport with reference to information of MRCC of St. Petersburg. The emergency situation service could not identify the source of contamination.

The Baltic Basin Emergency&Rescue Service sent to the site the Alphard ship to collect the oily mixture. According to the dispatcher of the emergency service by to 1:38am of Tuesday, October 26, there have been 700 liters containing 90% of fuel oil and 0.6 cub.m. oily debris collected at piers N 1,2,3, the agency report said.
