$700,000 will be considered for crane repairs and brake replacement parts for wharf and rubber-tired gantry cranes at Barbours Cut and Bayport terminals.
According to commissioners, obtaining space and replacement break parts are imperative to terminal operations.
Commissioners say that the six wharf cranes currently operating at Bayport need to be removed and replaced to ensure continued operation of the cranes.
Commissioners are also considering $300,000 for increasing Storage Area Networks (SAN) serving Bayport and Barbours Cut container terminals which include the purchasing of storage hardware, software, and implementation services.
The SAN serving Bayport and Barbour Cut require new Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems which will allow trucks to free-flow the OCR portal, which automatically reads license plates, container number and chassis.
The new OCR project aims to improve efficiency at the inbound/outbound truck gates at both Bayport and Barbours Cut.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday, October 26 during its regular public meeting to discuss possible port fundings.
