276 new container ships to enter the market in 2010

Some 276 new container vessels are expected to enter the market in 2010, Alphaliner reports. The capacity will grow with 9.5 per cent and 1.42 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit). The increase in terms of TEUs is the second largest annual increase since the surveys started. The top year was 2008 when a total of 1.57 million TEUs was delivered to owners world-wide.
